The brainchild of Ulsterman, John Denman Dean (Jack Dean) the classic Denman D3 brush was first patented in 1938. Initially the brushes featured boar bristle implanted in a natural rubber cushion, however, Jack’s work for the American Government during WW2 brought him into contact with a then, brand new polymer called Nylon. This enabled him to develop the Denman brushes that we know today.
